The short version
This site collects one thing on purpose: what you type into the speaking enquiry form, so Ellen can reply to you. It is not sold, rented or used for advertising, and there is no newsletter signup hiding behind it.
What the enquiry form collects
When you send a speaking enquiry, we receive what you entered:
- Your name and email address
- Your organisation or event, if you give one
- Your event date and preferred format, if you give them
- Your phone number, if you choose to add it
- What you wrote about your audience
- The page you sent it from, and the date and time
It is used to reply to your enquiry and to keep a record of enquiries received. It is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure and is visible to Ellen and to the team that maintains this site.
What the site measures
We count page views and page-speed measurements so we can tell whether the site is working. This is anonymous: no cookies, no advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking, and no attempt to work out who you are. A short random id is held in your browser tab for the length of your visit and is gone when you close it.
Other people’s services
Some links leave this site — Amazon for the book, Substack for The Friendship Letters, LinkedIn, and YouTube for Ellen’s TEDx talk. Once you follow one of those, that company’s own privacy policy applies, not this one. The TEDx video on the speaking page only loads from YouTube after you click play, so nothing is sent to YouTube if you do not.
How long things are kept
Speaking enquiries are kept while they are useful for booking and follow-up. Anonymous page-view and page-speed measurements are kept in aggregate. Ask and we will delete your enquiry.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Send that request through the enquiry form or via Ellen on LinkedIn and it will be actioned.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
